Glier’s Goetta ‘Party on the Purple’ extends free summer concert series due to popularity


The Glier’s Goetta “Party on the Purple” organizers announced that they are extending the free summer concert series on the Purple People Bridge to include five more dates to close out the summer.
 
ColdIron Enterprises Inc., Glier’s Meats Inc., and the Newport Southbank Bridge Company, which started the concert series May 17, have added these five new dates:
 
·Wednesday, Aug. 9, with 3 Piece Revival
·Wednesday, Aug.16, with Gee, Your Band Smells Terrific
·Wednesday Aug. 23, with Stays in Vegas
·Friday, Aug. 25, (To Be Announced)
[·Wednesday, Aug. 30, with Naked Karate Girls
 
Jack Moreland, president of Southbank Partners and chair of the Newport Southbank Bridge Company, said the overwhelming success of the free summer concert series prompted event organizers to extend the event.


 
“We are thrilled that the Party on the Purple has been such a success this summer and we look forward to continuing the fun on the bridge for the rest of August,” Moreland said.
 
“The Party on the Purple has become Greater Cincinnati’s signature Wednesday night event and we are proud to bring so many people to the Purple People Bridge to have a good time and to help us support this iconic structure in our community.”
 
A portion of the proceeds fro the concert series goes toward repainting and maintaining the 120-year-old Purple People Bridge. In addition to continuing the event on Wednesday evenings through August, event organizers also added a separate event on Friday, Aug. 25.

“We decided to add a Friday night concert for people who might not be able to attend the event on Wednesday nights and also to make it a great way to start the weekend,” said Marc Wertheim, president and CEO of ColdIron Enterprises Inc.
 
The Glier’s Goetta “Party on the Purple” weekly concert series kicked off on Wednesday, May 17, and was originally scheduled to run for 12 consecutive weeks.
 
The parties, which are free and open to the public, include music, food trucks, soft drinks, beer, wine, and spirits. Partygoers also can purchase Party on the Purple’s signature purple cocktail made with Svedka Vodka. Glier’s Goetta, Svedka Vodka, Charles Smith Wines, Braxton Beer, Rhinegeist Beer, Hooters and Beer Sellar are all official sponsors of Party on the Purple.
 
The Purple People Bridge is owned and operated by the Newport Southbank Bridge Company, a private, nonprofit organization that conducting a capital campaign to raise $1 million to repaint the bridge and maintain the historic structure, which is used by hundreds of thousands of pedestrians and bikers each year.
