Maxim Crane Works announces plans to build new corporate headquarters in Wilder, adding 100 jobs

Maxim Crane Works LP, the nation’s leading crane rental and lifting services provider, will build a $4.71 million office and create 100 full-time jobs in Wilder as it consolidates its operational offices in Kentucky, Gov. Matt Bevin announced.

“Maxim Crane Works is integrally involved in constructing our nation’s infrastructure, skylines, factories and amenities. They are also busy building on their own success here in the commonwealth,” Bevin said.

“Kentucky is an attractive choice for corporate investment, thanks to recent improvements we’ve made to our business climate, a high quality of life and our gateway location between the Midwest and South. We are grateful for Maxim’s decision to grow in Kentucky and I look forward to the company’s success in the years ahead.”

Maxim has operated a regional headquarters in Wilder since 1937. It is also where the company bases about 400 cranes for quick deployment to customers across the Eastern US. Maxim’s growth projections – including organic and acquisitions – prompted plans to consolidate its operations and regional leadership roles into Campbell County with the construction of a 17,000-square-foot office.

The new building on its Wilder campus will house executive and administrative staff and is scheduled to open late this year.

“Maxim Crane and the legacy brand of Carlisle Enterprises has been based out of the Northern Kentucky area since 1937. The prior and current ownership group of Maxim had the vision to acquire the property necessary to facilitate our growth strategy for the next 100 years,” said Bryan Carlisle, CEO of Maxim. “This is a great day for Maxim, our employees and the state. We certainly appreciate the efforts and results that the Governor and his team have dedicated to our project and we look forward to great future for all parties involved.”

Maxim COO Frank Bardonaro said the new office helps ensure the company’s success.

“We appreciate the effort that state and local governments have dedicated to facilitating growth in the Northern Kentucky area,” Bardonaro said. “Our ability to centralize our leadership team for service, safety, operations and logistics will ensure our customers and our employees that Maxim has the ability to continue our successful growth strategy for decades to come.”

Maxim is the nation’s largest coast-to-coast provider of crane rental and lifting services. With over 50 locations across the country, Maxim provides services to customers in every state and has consolidated more than 30 regional crane rental companies.

Sen. Wil Schroder of Wilder said the expansion emphasizes the region’s economic strength.

“I am so pleased to hear of Maxim Crane Works’ new multimillion-dollar investment and new job creation here in Northern Kentucky,” Schroder said. “Our region continues to be an economic leader in both the state and the nation, and I look forward to this company’s continued success with the help of Northern Kentucky’s workforce.”

Rep. Dennis Keene, of Wilder, said the additional jobs will be welcomed by the region’s dedicated workforce.

“This announcement brings more good news to Northern Kentucky as we work together to diversify our economy and expand job creation for some of the hardest working men and women this country has ever known,” Keene said. “Our region is proud to serve as home of the largest crane rental company in the United States, and I’m thankful to Maxim Crane Works for their continued investment in our communities and our commonwealth.”

Wilder Mayor Stanley Turner noted the scope of the company and its presence in the community.

“The city of Wilder is thrilled that Maxim Crane Works has chosen to consolidate and expand operations in our community,” Turner said. “As a company that does business in all 50 states, it is very exciting for us that Maxim recognizes and values the competitive advantages of doing business in the city of Wilder and Northern Kentucky. We look forward to their continued growth and success here.”

Campbell County Judge-Executive and Northern Kentucky Tri-ED Board Chair Steve Pendery said Maxim is ingrained in the local community.

“We are ecstatic that Maxim Crane Works has decided to expand its presence in Wilder by choosing the city for its consolidated headquarters office. Maxim Crane, through its local roots with the Carlisle family, has invested in and been a critical community partner to Northern Kentucky for many years,” Pendery said. “Now, Maxim has selected Wilder to be its primary home base. This decision is a testament to the competitive business climate and workforce that are found here. I am personally grateful for Maxim’s investment in Northern Kentucky, in Wilder and Campbell County, and I anticipate with great excitement the company’s continued growth and success.”

To encourage the investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) in March preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $2 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program.

The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the agreement term through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.

In addition, Maxim can receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network. Through the Kentucky Skills Network, companies can receive no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job training incentives. In fiscal 2016, the Kentucky Skills Network provided training for nearly 95,000 Kentuckians and 5,000 companies from a variety of industry sectors.
