Kenton County Clerk Summe announces voting place changes; October 11 is deadline for registering to vote


Kenton County Clerk, Gabrielle Summe, encourages all voters to check out www.GOVOTEKY.COM where they can check their registration status under “Review Your Registration” or even register to vote for the first time by clicking “Register to Vote.”.

October 11 is the deadline for new voters to register for the General Election.  October 11 is also the deadline for any voter needing to make a name change or address change.  

Go to www.GOVOTEKY.com to register online or fill out a voter registration card in the Clerk’s office.  A voter registration card can also be downloaded from either www.kentoncountykyclerk.com or the Secretary of State website at www.sos.ky.gov.  Once the card is downloaded and filled out then mailed it to the Kenton County Clerk’s office at PO Box 1109, Covington, KY  41011.

Absentee voting hours
 
For those voters that will be out of the county on the General Election, November 8, 2016, in-office absentee voting will be available from Friday, October 21, 2016 through Monday, November 7, 2016. 
Absentee Voting will also be available on Saturday, October 29th and November 5th from 9 a.m. to noon in the Covington office.
Voting is only in the Covington office at 303 Court Street, Room 104 in Covington.  The Kenton County Clerk’s Election office will be open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Thursdays from 8:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

    Does it strike anyone else as odd that in an election where healthcare issues and social security are quite important that 30% of the changes to voting places negatively affect with with disabilities and the elderly?

      Help us understand, Rene. Looks like the new sites are mostly schools, churches and city buildings? Wouldn’t they be handicapped accessible — and also conveniently located? Can you explain the “negative” effects?

    That all depends on whether or not the residents of the senior citizen housing locations are forced to go somewhere else to vote . If they are, that is not a good idea .
