22 athletes, coaches to be inducted into Covington Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame on April 2


The Tom Ellis Athletic Memorial Foundation will host the fourth Covington Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony and celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the Radisson Cincinnati Riverfront hotel in Covington.

Former Major League Baseball umpire Randy Marsh and former coaches Ken Spurlock and Tom Haney will be among the 22 inductees in the 2016 class.

The event will include dinner, music, a video about this year’s inductees, a silent auction, a souvenir program, and more. This year’s inductees are:

The emcee for this year’s event will be Melvin Webster, Holmes Class of 1971 and president of the Northern Kentucky Athletic Directors’ Association.

Tickets for the dinner and awards ceremony are $50 and can be purchased until March 25. The ticket order form can be downloaded here.

“Covington Public Schools – including both Holmes High School and William Grant High School – have a rich heritage of producing outstanding athletes and the TEAM Foundation is happy to recognize 22 student-athletes and coaches in the 2016 Hall of Fame induction class,” said TEAM Foundation president Gary Huhn.

    Wouldn’t it be nice if the 1963 state champions baseball team was nominated for induction. I believe this to be the last state championship won by a Holmes sports team.
