Northern Kentucky University women’s golfers Mackenzie Laumann, Ryleigh Waltz, Sarah Kellam, Tara Clark and Taylor Wogenstahl earned WGCA All-American Scholar accolades for the 2014-15 season. All five women maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, making them eligible to earn the award.
“I am incredibly proud of this group,” head coach Daryl Landrum said. “These five women epitomize what it means to be a student-athlete. They work hard at honing their golf skills and even harder in the classroom.”
Norse Notes
1. Four of the five golfers earning the award are sophomores, which bodes well for future representation of the women’s golf team on the WGCA All-American Scholar awards list. Laumann, Waltz, Kellam and Clark each completed their second season for the Norse this year and all four garnered the honor for the second time.
2. Wogenstahl is the lone senior of the group. She closed her career with a solid performance at the Atlantic Sun Championship, climbing seven spots on the final day to finish tied for 24th.
3. Clark, Kellam, Laumann, Waltz and Wogenstahl combined to give NKU its largest representation in the history of the award. The five golfers topped the previous high of four, which was recorded four other times (2002-03, 2003-04, 2005-06 and 2013-14). In total, 15 women’s golfers have combined to earn the accolade 32 times in the last 14 years. Kim Keyer-Scott and Alicia Lawrence were four-time recipients.
