Lunken Air Museum welcomes new director, a graduate from Northern Kentucky University.
Baird Ullrey comes to the museum by way of NKU’s Masters in Public History Program. He has been working in the museum and history field as a researcher and archaeologist for 12 years.
He fills an important spot formerly held by M. Charles Pyles, who acted as director/curator. Pyles, of Cold Spring, continues as curator.

Ullrey worked with the James A. Ramage Civil War museum and is helping create the upcoming Cov 200 Anniversary exhibit featured at the Berhinger-Crawford Museum.
The new director’s responsibilities will include the oversight of day-to-day administrative functions of the museum as well as coordination of public outreach efforts. He will work with the curatorial staff and museum board to create new and exciting exhibits and to forge strong and enduring relationships with the local community and other museums.
The CAHS Museum is leading the way in preserving aviation history locally and regionally, by creating knowledgeable and engaging exhibits about Cincinnati’s civil aviation history, building relationships with individuals or partnerships with other institutions exhibiting similar interests, and educating the public about Cincinnati’s important role in the development of civil aviation around the world.
Ullrey says he is looking forward to expanding the museum’s reach into the surrounding community and sharing Cincinnati’s prolific and very important place in aviation history.
Visit the museum in suite 26 at Lunken Airport’s art deco main terminal. The Museum is open Monday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Saturdays from noon until 3 p.m.
