Presented by: Dr. Wes Ryle

After the first detection of gravitational waves in 2016, we have seen the number of breakthrough discoveries rapidly growing. Predicted by Einstein’s theory of relativity, these signals from deep space provide astronomers a brand new way of exploring the Universe. Join us as we discuss the latest results, the ultrasensitive techniques used to detect this phenomenon, and future of this fascinating branch of astronomy!

Weather permitting, join us after the talk for a viewing of the stars and more at The BB&T Observatory.  Thomas More College faculty and students will be available to help the public view the night sky through a telescope.

This talk is intended for a general audience.  All ages are welcome.  The event is free and open to the public.
