Boone County Public Library December calendar for adults includes Walton’s Christmas On Main


The Boone County Public Library offers a wide range of events, activities and programs for adults at its branches and throughout the community in the month of December. Eyewitness to Pearl Harbor

On December 7, 1941, Walter Tadao Oka, then a teenager, had a front-row view of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was the 13th child, and 9th son, of Japanese immigrants. Hear Mr. Oka talk about his experiences on that day and the impact it had on his life in the subsequent years. In 2011, 70 years after the Pearl Harbor attack, Oka went to the Capitol in Washington, D.C., for the presentation of the Congressional Gold Medal to the World War II veterans of the 100th Battalion, 442nd RCT and Military Intelligence Service.

Do you have photos and documents that are sitting around? Bring them to the library where a trained volunteer or staff member will digitize them so they are preserved for future generations. Once items are scanned they can be saved to your flash drive, a CD or sent to an email. Registration is required. You will be contacted with a 30 minute time slot after registering.
