The 42nd season of the Cathedral Concert Series will feature its annual Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m.

Dr. Gregory Schaffer is the choir director and organist.

The concerts are held at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption.

The public is invited. Admission is free but freewill offerings are accepted.

Scripture and Sacred Song foretell of the coming Nativity.

Evergreen and candlelight enhance the Gothic interior of the Basilica for this annual and ancient tradition.

Choral pieces spanning centuries of style echo the Old and New Testament readings. Reflections in anticipation of the Nativity Season are offered in one of the area’s most stunning visual and acoustically resonant spaces.

The Very Reverend Ryan Maher, Cathedral Rector, will preside.
