Jordan Brower was 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs as the Florence Freedom began a three-game road series against the Lake Erie Crushers with a 4-0 victory Friday night.

Florence pitcher Jordan Kraus tossed a six-hit shutout and finished with seven strikeouts. He also allowed just one walk and lowered his season’s earned run average to 3.70.

Xavier Turner added two hits and scored twice for the Freedom, while teammates Ricky Ramirez and Keivan Berges each drove in a run.

Brower collected the big hit for Florence, a two-run single with two out in the seventh inning that gave the Freedom a 3-0 cushion. Florence added an insurance run in the eighth inning on a fielder’s choice grounder that plated Turner.

Florence and Lake Erie continue the series Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
