Eleven Kentuckians, including a Northern Kentucky man convicted nearly 40 years ago for receiving stolen property, were granted pardons from Gov. Matt Bevin during the holiday week, just as he did last year when issuing 10 pardons during the Independence Day week.

Pardons were granted to the following:
· Dana Goff Yount of Lawrenceburg
· Crystal Dawn Young of Cincinnati
· Donald Lee Simmons of Henderson
· Mark Douglas Scherer of Erlanger
· George Edward Sears, Jr. of Somerset
· Christina Amanda Oakley of Ashland
· Ricky Lynn Rodgers of Liberty
· Brandon Joseph Neal of Covington
· Jamie R Neace of Jackson
· David W. McFarland of Louisville

Those pardoned were convicted of various crimes from theft to trafficking and possession of drugs, to shoplifting and other crimes. The oldest case was from 1980 when Scherer was convicted of receiving stolen property.
“Mark Scherer paid for his crime nearly 40 years ago and has been a model citizen since that time,” Bevin said in the executive order. “A good father, loving husband and excellent community volunteer, Mark is deserving of the full pardon that he has requested.”
Bevin had similar remarks about all those who were given pardons but were now good citizens.
In addition to the 21 pardons over the past two Julys, Bevin also issued pardons to eight others during the year, including seven during last year’s Christmas season.
