NKITA to host program at Kentucky Speedway to discuss Japan’s influence on state’s auto industry


The auto industry is one of Kentucky’s major economic drivers with the sector employing nearly 95,000 people at more than 500 companies. In 2017 alone, auto-related exports totaled $5.5 billion making Kentucky the number one producer of cars, light trucks, and SUVs per capita.

On Wednesday, May 23, NKITA will host the Japan America Society of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky along with other local Chambers of Commerce at the Kentucky Speedway (1 Speedway Drive, Sparta) to discuss Japan’s influence on the auto industry in Kentucky. During the luncheon, attendees will hear industry experts discuss their successes, challenges, and other data concerning their work with the Japanese companies doing business in the region.

Panelists include:

 Toshio Nakao – Partner, Taft Stettinius & Hollister, LLP
 Andrew R. Rothweil – Assistant GM, Toyoda Gosei North America Corporation
 David Jones – National Account Manager/Greater Detroit Area Industry Logistics & Supply Chain, DHL

As part of the seminar, after the session ends attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a ride-along around the track at the Kentucky Speedway (weather permitting).

Registration for NKITA’s presentation on The Japanese Influence on the Auto Industry in Kentucky, which runs from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., is $25 for NKITA, NKY Chamber, and Japanese American Society of Cincinnati members, $30 for members of other Kentucky Chambers of Commerce, and $35 for future NKY Chamber Members and includes lunch.
