Boone County Republican Party releases statement critical of Rep. Wuchner’s withdraw at filing deadline

Over the last several days, the leadership of the Boone County Republican Party has received many calls, text messages, and emails regarding the withdrawal of State Representative Addia Wuchner from the race for the 66th District House seat.

Regarding this situation, the Executive Committee of the BCRP makes the following statement:

“Transparency is a basic expectation of our elected officials, regardless of their party affiliation. The citizens and voters of Boone County deserve nothing less. The manner in which State Representative Addia Wuchner withdrew from the race at the filing deadline, only communicating her intent with a few chosen people, does not honor the trust her constituents have placed in her, nor does it encourage active political engagement.

The voters, and only the voters, should decide who will represent them. While we appreciate her years of service to her constituents and conservative causes, the Boone County Republican Party is disappointed that Representative Wuchner chose to end her career in this manner. We value and look forward to contested primary elections and believe that voters having choices produce better elections and better representation for our county and its citizens. We hope that in the future the will of the voters will be trusted and valued by all.

We wish Representative Wuchner much success during her remaining time in the legislature and in all of her future endeavors. We also want to encourage all Boone County Republicans to get involved in the upcoming primary races and be sure to go vote on May 22, 2018. ”

Wuchner has Always been about herself. Trump would probably nickname her “Weasel Wuchner” . I believe party statement is right on target. Voters do have a choice in most other races. With what has gone on in this county the last 2 years, it may be time for some house cleaning in some offices. Only 1 candidate in this entire field of candidates had the fortitude to call out LTS on “her own words”. Waiting to see if the Judge would give Dooley a second trial was toxic on the entire party. Voters know more than most “elites” give them credit for. I’m a little disappointed in Mr. Massey as well, to have participated in this bait and switch scheme. Don’t be fooled by thinking other BC elected officials knew nothing of their intentions to circumvent the voters. Time will tell, shame on you “Weasel Wuchner” !

The current iteration of the BCRP is a leaderless, hollow group. Chairman Josh Walton, who had never so much as set foot in a meeting prior to his installation by Gary Moore and the Boone County RINO establishment, is an embodiment of the problems of the local GOP in both ignorance and attitude.

Anchored by Frankfort lobbyists, the leadeship’s only decisive action has been to remove and lock out anyone not inside the establishment’s agenda, establishing a committee and removing the previous open discussion format.

This ridiculous clamoring for transparency is pure hypocrisy, particularly coming from a chairman refusing to relinquish the seat while pursuing political office.
