Mubea, coming off its apprenticeship graduation, is partnering with KYFAME Wednesday (Dec. 13) to host an open house from  3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME) is a partnership of regional manufacturers whose purpose is to implement dualtrack, apprenticeship-style training that will create a pipeline of highly skilled workers. The primary method to achieve this goal is through partnerships with local educational institutions to offer the Advanced Manufacturing Technician Program (AMT).

Mubea manufactures automotive components, such as springs, hose clamps and stabilizer bars. It started operating in Kentucky in 1982.

The following companies will also have booths at the open house: Hahn, Krauss Maffei, Linamar, Loreal, Safran, Steinert and a few others sponsoring companies.

Activities will involve tours, viewing Mubea’s world class apprentice shops and live demonstrations. There will also be opportunities to speak with all the Sponsoring FAME Industry Partners to learn more about the Dual Career Track (learn as you earn program), and debt free college program.

Current FAME Advanced Manufacturing Technician/Apprentice students will also be available for conversation and Q&A sessions.

Kentucky is experiencing a record year in economic development and advanced manufacturing leads the way.

In 2015, the Commonwealth of Kentucky set a record in 2015, by bringing in $5.2 billion in new businesses in the state of Kentucky.

Through July of this year, the Commonwealth has already experienced $7.7 billion in economic development and is expected to approach $9 billion by year’s end.

There are currently an estimated 200,000 unfilled jobs in Kentucky and by 2024 that number is expected to be 700,000.

KY FAME works closely with educational institutions to establish and endorse programs and curricula that develop the necessary skill-sets for students to be prepared in Kentucky’s manufacturing job market. KY FAME collaborates with Kentucky manufacturers, educators, and the public sector to:

  • Increase the skills levels of employees in the manufacturing industry;
  • Improve the image of the manufacturing industry;
  • Promote manufacturing-related career pathway opportunities;
  • Implement the industrial maintenance technician development program known as the Advanced Manufacturing Technician Program (AMT);
  • Support the creation of additional skills training programs in the model of AMT to increase the skills levels of manufacturing employees.
