Newport Catholic honors two couples with St. John Baptist de La Salle Award for dedication to the school

At the Newport Central Catholic Winners’ Circle, Scott and Jane Grosser and Denny and Margie Kehoe were honored with the St. John Baptist de La Salle Award.

Danny and Margie Kehoe

Denny and Margie Kehoe, both 1959 graduates, are lifelong supporters of Newport Central Catholic and can be seen at nearly every sporting event and fundraiser. They have dedicated both time, talent and treasure to Newport Central Catholic and have seen children and grandchildren pass through the halls of our school.

For many years the Kehoes were active in both the Athletic Boosters and Mothers Club.

Scott (1982 graduate) and Jane Grosser have been avid supporters of Newport Central Catholic and Catholic education sending all of their children through the educational process on The Hill and Diocesan Grade Schools.

Scott and Jane have sat on numerous boards and committees for our school.

While serving as Chairs on the Gala Committee, they led efforts for fundraising including one year in which the event surpassed $100,000.  Recently, they have headed efforts with others from the Grosser family to create a vision to transform our Science Labs.

The St. John Baptist de La Salle Award was established to honor and recognize those who take part in extensive stewardship in the mission of Newport Central Catholic whether it is by time, talent or treasure.

These recipients are often worthy of so much more, but the school brings to light the generosity of such supporters at our major events.

The award is named after St. John Baptist de La Salle who left his extremely wealthy family to dedicate his life to the mission of the church and education of children.

La Salle eventually founded the order of Christian Brothers who for many years served as teachers and leaders of our school community.
