NKU Athletics announces that CW Cincinnati will air five Norse men’s basketball games this season

Northern Kentucky University Department of Athletics has announced that the CW Cincinnati will air five Norse men’s basketball games this season.

Viewers from across the Tri-State will be able to pick up the games over the air with a basic antenna or on their local cable systems.

NKU’s home matchups at BB&T Arena against Morehead State on Dec. 2, Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 10, UIC on Dec. 30, Detroit Mercy on Jan. 28 and Green Bay on Feb. 10 will air on CW Cincinnati.

“We are excited to announce this opportunity with the Sinclair Broadcasting Group to broadcast five of our men’s basketball games on CW Cincinnati,” said Ken Bothof, Director of Athletics. “As evidenced by last season’s Horizon League Tournament Championship and berth into the NCAA Tournament, NKU men’s basketball is quickly becoming a top-tier mid-major program. The games on CW Cincinnati allow us to showcase the Norse on a local platform and continue to build the following for Northern Kentucky men’s basketball.”

Under the guidance of Northern Kentucky-native John Brannen, who was named the Horizon League Coach of the Year, NKU won the 2017 Horizon League Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Northern Kentucky became just the seventh team all-time and only the second since 1970 to make an appearance in the NCAA tourney in its first season eligible.

First Team All-Horizon League, Horizon League all-tourney and all-academic team honoree Drew McDonald (Cold Spring, Kentucky/Newport Central Catholic) highlights a Norse team that returns 77 percent of its scoring from last year’s 24-11 team that finished tied for third in the Horizon League regular-season standings. League tourney MVP Lavone Holland II (Louisville, Kentucky/Ballard HS) was second on the team in scoring last year and returns for his senior season. The Norse also welcome back all-freshman team selection Carson Williams (Owenton, Kentucky/Owen County).
