Gov. Bevin chooses Daniel Zalla of Fort Thomas to replace Fred Stine, who retired, as Circuit Judge

Gov. Matt Bevin today appointed Daniel Zalla, of Fort Thomas, as Circuit Judge for Kentucky’s 17th Judicial Circuit, Division 2, encompassing Campbell County. Zalla replaces former judge Fred Stine, who retired in August.

Zalla is a graduate of Covington Catholic High School, the University of Kentucky, and Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law.

Beginning his legal career in 1974, he has practiced contract, real estate, probate, personal injury and family law, as well as handling estate transactions, negligence matters and business litigation. In 2006, he was appointed to fill a judicial vacancy on the Kenton County Circuit Court.

“I am truly honored and humbled to once again serve the Commonwealth in the capacity of Circuit Judge and intend to put forth my fullest measure of devotion to the job,” said Zalla. “I also thank Gov. Bevin for placing his confidence in me and promise to faithfully serve the citizens of Campbell County throughout the remainder of Judge Stine’s term.”

Zalla has served on the Kentucky Bar Foundation Board, the Carmel Manor Nursing Home Board and the Chase College of Law Alumni Board, and has volunteered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati for the past 43 years.

He will serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
