Bankers, developers and development agency officials will want to mark their calendars to attend the Brownfields for Bankers Workshop on Aug. 10.
This workshop will provide an introduction to brownfield redevelopment, since developers are increasingly recognizing the value of revitalizing brownfields.
Brownfields are properties that are abandoned or underutilized due to real or perceived environmental contamination.
Topics to be covered in the workshop include:
• Federal environmental liability and exemptions for lenders and bona fide prospective purchasers,
• Kentucky’s new brownfield law that reduces uncertainty in the redevelopment process,
• Incentives that are available to assist in brownfield redevelopment and
• A case study of how a community eyesore has been transformed into a thriving business and asset to the neighborhood.
