Florence’s Barbara Manning a finalist for national Silver Sneaker award — vote to make her the winner

Florence resident, Barbara Manning, has been selected as one of the Top 10 Finalists for the 2017 SilverSneakers®Richard L. Swanson Inspiration Award, honoring older adults for their dedication to fitness and overall well-being. The national award winner will be selected by a public vote through July 14.

Barbara Manning

Manning experienced terrible back pain that left her in bed most of the day. In an effort to avoid the surgery her doctor recommended, she joined SilverSneakers through her insurance provider, Aetna, and turned to exercise to help relieve her pain. To her surprise, once she began exercising at the local R.C. Durr YMCA, she felt much better and continued this path until she was pain-free. Manning is now able to live an active lifestyle and credits SilverSneakers for transforming her life.

The 13th annual Richard L. Swanson Inspiration Award honors a SilverSneakers member who has improved their life through fitness, health and well-being, inspiring and motivating others along the way.
