Covington Police make arrest in Sunday morning killing; 20-year-old Zachary Pouncy dead

On June 18 at approximately 2 a.m. Covington Police responded to 39 West 26th Street for a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived they located the victim, 20-year-old Zachary Pouncy, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center – Covington, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives and officers quickly developed information that led to the arrest of 20- year-old Dhezon Gray. Gray was still on scene at 39 West 26th Street when he was detained for this investigation. Gray was charged with Manslaughter 2nd Degree and was lodged in the Kenton County Jail.

Gray is believed to be the only individual sought for this homicide.

Details of the circumstances behind this case are still under investigation and no other information will be released at this time.
