Thomas More College junior guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) was named to the D3hoops.com All-America First Team Saturday night.
This year’s D3hoops.com All-America team is the organization’s 20th annual national awards. The honorees are chosen by D3hoops.com staff in consultation with All-Region voting results from players nominated for All-Region recognition.
Voted the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year Feb. 24, Owings was named a D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes First Team selection March 13. She also secured Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association (WBCA) NCAA Division III All-America recognition Friday.
Owings finished fifth in the league in scoring this season, averaging 16.0 points per game. She also ranked third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0), fourth in steals per game (2.2) and fifth in assists per game (3.4) and three-point field goals made (57).
A two-time All-PAC First Team selection, Owings was a D3hoops.com preseason second team All-America selection. She was a D3hoops.com Fourth Team All-America selection in 2016.
Thomas More finished the season 28-1 and advanced to the Division III Championship second round after winning the PAC regular season and tournament titles.
