At the Urban Metro Campus today, Gateway Community & Technical College hosted over 300 high school students who are considering attending Gateway.
Super Someday is a high school recruitment event focused on the celebration of diversity and inclusion while highlighting the unique talents and interests of each student.
“Our students had an amazing visit today. Thank you for hosting us for such a unique experience. There is a buzz going around with students about their experience today and consideration of Gateway as their next step,” said Kayla Ritter Rickels, college and career success manager, Cincinnati Youth Collaborative.
Students explored Gateway’s cosmetology and massage programs and the college’s student run business, Emerge. They also saw transportation programing at the Transportation Technology Center and multiple programs and services in the Center for Technology, Innovation and Enterprise (TIE) building. Current and former Gateway students, staff and faculty provided tours and information about career pathways and learning opportunities offered at Gateway. Staff presented information about enrollment, financial aid and student support services as well.
“We want to help you succeed,” said John Brown, assistant director of admissions and recruitment.
High school students and counselors from northern Kentucky and Cincinnati were invited.
Boone County ATC, Community Christian Academy, Hughes STEM High School, Ludlow High School, Scott County High School, Shroder High School, Williamstown High School and Withrow University High School attended.
“We were thrilled to have so many high school students on our campus today learning how Gateway can help them discover their talents and get on the pathway to their career and life goals,” said Dr. Fernando Figueroa, Gateway president. “I commend our students, staff and faculty for creating such a welcoming and informative experience. We look forward to seeing our guests today as Gateway students in the future.”
