Bad Girl Ventures chooses five women entrepreneurs for Spring LAUNCH class, to vie for loans


Bad Girl Ventures (BGV) announced the five women entrepreneurs to participate in its Greater Cincinnati Spring 2017 LAUNCH class, which is part of the organization’s three-tier Explore, Launch, and Grow business-education program.
 
“We are very excited about our first LAUNCH class of 2017,” said BGV Executive Director Nancy Aichholz. “All five of these startup companies are energetic and unique businesses representing different industries. BGV looks forward to working with these entrepreneurs to build their businesses and obtain the training and capital needed to take them to the next level.”
 
Members of BGV’s Spring 2017 Launch class are:
 
·      Black Career Women’s Network. Black Career Women’s Network is a national network dedicated to the professional development of African-American women with 30 online communities, an exclusive list of mentors, virtual career tools, and resources to support the professional development of its members in addition to providing local support. Founder: Sherry Sims

Allie’s Walkabout

·      Allie’s Walkabout. Allie’s Walkabout is a dog-care facility that offers doggy daycare, boarding, grooming, and training, including five large play yards for off-leash pet care that provides a high touch, low-stress environment for their guests. This family business started when Allie was nine years old and started walking dogs in the neighborhood for $5, a business that has now grown more than 1,800 customers. Founder: Mary Clegg
 
·      Core Strong. Core Strong is a non-traditional gym located in Covington, where members improve their mental and physical strength without the distractions often found in a traditional commercial gym settings. Core Strong offers a variety of classes led by a team of trainers whose passion is to make working out both fun and effective. Founder: Stephanie Tieman
 
·      The Healing Kitchen. The Healing Kitchen uses the Findlay Market Incubator Kitchen to produce small batch, made-from-scratch food using only the highest quality ingredients from local farmers. All of the products are organic, grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and Non-GMO. Founder: Tiffany Wise

Core Strong

 
·      Your Stylist, LLC. Your Stylist was created by Jackie Neville, a personal stylist, in January 2016 after working in retail management for 22 years. Jackie offers personal styling and wardrobe consulting services and assists individuals to help them look and feel their best while building their ideal wardrobe. Founder: Jackie Neville
 
Each company BGV has chosen already has a viable, vetted business with an existing revenue stream and customer base. LAUNCH will provide education and training and help them secure capital to take their concepts to the next level. At the end of the LAUNCH stage, each business will have the opportunity to compete for up to $25,000 in low-interest loans from BGV.
 
During the seven-week class, members will learn how to prepare and execute key startup milestones from each functional business area to take their business to higher level. At the end of the class, all members will present their business plans and funding needs to the BGV Loan Selection Committee.

The winner(s) of the capital awards will be announced in May.
