Andrew Christofield, retired teacher and coach dies, Korean War veteran also worked at Covington Skyline


Andrew John Christofield, 81, of Bellevue, passed away Monday at his daughter’s home.

andrew-christofield-obitChristofield was a Korean War Army veteran and a graduate of Bellevue High School and Transylvania University in Lexington.

He was a retired school teacher, having taught at Twenhofel in Independence, Ludlow High School, Scott High School and A.D. Owens Elementary in Newport.

He was a former baseball and basketball coach and high school baseball umpire and also worked at the Covington Skyline along with his brother, George.

He was the son of the late John and Jennie (Pavlakos) Christofield. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tex & George Christofield and sister, Ann Sampson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosemarie (Franzen) Christofield; son, Joseph Carrie) Christofield; daughters, Jeanette Day and Connie (Cy) Sykes; brother, Chris Christofield; sister, Harriet Brooks; grandchildren, Amy, Brandon, Hannah, Mallory, Harrison, Garret, Will and Ellie.

Visitation 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, 241 Fairfield Avenue in Bellevue.

Burial will be at 2:00 pm in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Williamstown.
