Ky FAME, Mubea sponsor driver Garrett Smithley in weekend’s NASCAR race at Kentucky Speedway

The Northern Kentucky Chapter of the Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME) and Mubea announce sponsorship of Garrett Smithley in this weekend’s Kentucky Speedway NASCAR Truck and Xfinity Series races.

“Participating in the NASCAR Truck and Xfinity Series at the Kentucky Speedway and engaging Smithley gives us a chance to reach students who might be starting to think about their plans after high school, and we want to offer KY FAME as a rich opportunity for them,” said Drew Farris, Training Manager at Mubea and Northern Kentucky FAME Chapter Vice President.

For Smithley, who is racing with SS-Green Light Racing and JD Motorsports, partnering with KY FAME was a natural fit.

“My mom’s family is from Kentucky, so it feels like a second home,” said Smithley. “KY FAME is really special to me because my cousin was one of the inaugural students of the program, and now he’s an engineer at Toyota locally. KY FAME gives kids an opportunity to grow, learn and improve their way of life.”

Additional NKY FAME member companies are participating in the sponsorship and will be among the employers at the KY FAME booth in the KY Speedway entrance, where visitors can meet students in the Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program and learn more about career paths through KY FAME.

Smithley is expected to be present at the booth on Thursday and throughout the weekend for autographs and photos.

The current KY FAME class includes 24 Northern Kentucky students who were matched with 10 local manufacturing companies to develop highly desirable skills through work and study. Discount race tickets for students can be purchased on Ticketmaster using the code “KYSGroup”.
