Women’s Crisis Center raising awareness about Sexual Assault Awareness Month; wear teal


Women’s Crisis Center is raising awareness of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and reminding everyone that means it’s also Wear Teal time.

The official color os SAAM, teal is associated with trust, devotion and healing.

WCC points out that nearly one in five women and 1 in 71 men are victims of sexual assault — but that everyone is impacted by sexual violence. Prevention starts with individuals who model supportive relationships and behaviors, call our harmful attitudes and challenge the societal acceptance of rate. Businesses and communities can take action to implement policies that promote safety, respect and quality.

The slogan of SAAM is “Prevention is Possible.”

WCC is also asking communities, schools and workplaces to how a “Dollars for Denim Day” on April 27 — all the wearing of denim and raise money for the WCC to show support for survivors and raise awareness for the crimes of sexual assault.
