Family Nurturing Center to benefit from Lexington’s West Sixth Brewery’s Pay It Forward program

On November 24 at Dickmann’s Cafe, West Sixth Brewing will be presenting a check to Northern Kentucky nonprofit, Family Nurturing Center, the selected nonprofit for their Pay It Forward program.

Rickman’s Sports Cafe is located at 479 Orphanage Rd. in Fort Wright.

Each quarter, West Sixth Brewing selects nonprofits in areas around Kentucky to receive $.50 of every Pay it Forward Cocoa Porter six-pack purchased in their respective area. With the calculated amount, Stagnaro Distributing also matches that number, in a combined donation to the nonprofit.

“With our Pay It Forward program in effect for over a year now, it’s been exciting to get to know all the nonprofits we’ve given back to”, said co-founder of West Sixth, Brady Barlow. “This program allows us to support the people doing great work in our state and region in a consistent way with something we can create: great tasting craft beer.”

West Sixth Pay It Forward

For more than 35 years, Family Nurturing Center has provided child abuse treatment, prevention and education services to thousands of children and families in Northern Kentucky and Hamilton County in Ohio. Their mission is to end the cycle of child abuse by promoting individual well-being and healthy family relationships. The blue ribbon that coins Family Nurturing Center is a symbol for child abuse prevention and serves as a visual reminder of the role that all must play to protect children.

“We are so grateful to West Sixth Brewing for their philanthropic support of charities throughout Kentucky,” said Jane Herms, Executive Director for Family Nurturing Center. “Child abuse is entirely preventable, but we can’t do it alone. It takes everyone, including the business community to create true cultural change for how society views and responds to child abuse and neglect,” Herms added. “West Sixth truly cares about making a positive impact on the communities they are a part of through their Pay it Forward and Sixth for a Cause programs.”

Dickmann’s Sports Café will be the host of the Pay It Forward celebration and check presentation. Dickmann’s will have 10 West Sixth beers on draft, including the Pay It Forward Cocoa Porter, West Sixth favorites, and varieties exclusive to the taproom in Lexington. In the planning process, Dickmann’s is “paying it forward” as well, donating 100 percent of the profits from all West Sixth brews sold on the November 24th event.

Guests coming to celebrate FNC will enjoy watching the University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball game versus Boston, along with live entertainment on the patio with Stono Rebellion. Dickmann’s is a 21+ establishment. Find Basketball, Brews, and Blue Ribbons on Facebook for all the details.
