Former mayors and council members, along with State Sen. Chris McDaniel, Rep. Adama Kownigh and Rep. Dian St. Onge, cut ribbon dedicating the new city building.

The City of Fort Mitchell unveiled its newly expanded and renovated city building to the public at an open house that included the building dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony.

The $3.5 million expansion project included a 5,000 sq. ft. addition.

A new public entranceway includes an expanded lobby and with access to the new council chambers. There are two new ambulance bays that can now access Dixie Highway directly. The police and fire departments have expanded offices and parking for employees and visitors has been greatly expanded. Additional parking will be completed next year as well as the addition of a small pocket park along the highway.

“Because of the fiscal responsibility of previous city council members and mayors, our city is in top financial shape and the building project was paid for without incurring any loans or debt,” said Mayor Jude Hehman. “The vision for the project has been underway for many years and we are proud to bring it to completion and allow the public to enjoy this beautiful new facility.” Jude Hehman served on City Council for ten years prior to being elected mayor in 2014.

“The employees are thrilled with the new space and now have plenty of room for departments to be located together, which leads to a more cohesive working environment,” said City Administrator Sharmili Reddy. “We are also thrilled with the new Christ Hospital Wellness Room that will help keep our first responders and employees healthy.”

The City employs 50 individuals and its first responders serve the cities of Crestview Hills and Lakeside Park.

“The City Building is something our residents and businesses can be proud of,” added Mayor Hehman.
