In today’s global economy, people can choose to live almost anywhere. In the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan region of 2.1 million people, 17 percent or just over 450,000 people make the choice to call Northern Kentucky home.
Great places don’t happen by accident, and for the past few decades, Northern Kentucky has used strategic planning to ensure continuous improvement. To accelerate this trajectory, Skyward (previously known as Vision 2015) the engineer and the engine behind myNKY, a community-driven five-year strategic work plan has designed strategies to connect education, wellness, business, and culture in innovative, inclusive, productive ways.
Kristine Frech, vice president of Skyward said, “The five-year work plan contains four bold and inspiring goals including education, wellness, jobs, and vibrancy. With these goals, the vision is poised to bring success to our residents, families, and businesses; fostering a community that is vibrant, inclusive and connected.”
On July 28, the Northern Kentucky Forum will host “What Does the Future Look Like for myNKY?” at the Northern Kentucky University Digitorium in the College of Informatics.
Northern Kentucky Forum board chair Carla Landon explained, “This region is a place where anyone who wants to get involved can do so. The Northern Kentucky Forum looks forward to partnering with Skyward in an aim to accelerate change in the community we love. I hope everyone who was involved in the creation of the myNKY plan as well as anyone just learning about it will join us for the public launch of this plan and come ready to help.”
A panel moderated by Amanda (Van Benschoten) Nageleisen will discuss the four broad goals of the plan. Panelists include:

The Northern Kentucky Forum is a partnership of the Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement, Skyward and Legacy – three nonpartisan groups in Northern Kentucky dedicated to public engagement. The forum conducts several “public square” events each year around current events and public policy in locations across Boone, Campbell and Kenton Counties. Forum events are free and open to the Northern Kentucky community as a whole.
