Chamber foundation to host STEM Girls Day Out, free program at various host sites for career exploration

On Thursday, July 23, Impact NKY, a Foundation of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, will host its annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Girls Day Out program for girls in grades 4-8 throughout Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati.

STEM Girls Day Out is a FREE experiential learning opportunity for female students designed to promote interest in STEM careers.

The one-day program allows for personal and in-depth career exploration. The students will learn about STEM careers by touring and visiting a local company.

As the region focuses on building a talent pipeline in manufacturing and other featured STEM industries, Girls Day Out is a way to provide a first-hand look at promising career paths.

Following the 2014 program, a parent shared, “My daughter had a great time at the Girls Day Out. She learned a lot and her interest was piqued even more about jobs in this field.”

In 2015, host sites will include a variety of employers including: bioLOGIC/Bexion Pharmaceuticals, Data Intensity, Delta Air Lines, Duke Energy, General Cable, St. Elizabeth Healthcare and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, N.A. Thanks to generous sponsor support from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Duke Energy, Toyota and Loftus Plastic Surgery Center this day is made possible!

Students can be registered by visiting www.nkchamber.com/events or by calling Amanda Dixon at 859.578.6396.
