For those seeking an antidote to a cold and blustery winter, the Bed and Breakfast Association of Kentucky has the perfect cure: a free overnight at participating BBAK-member inns.

Travelers can turn an overnight trip into a relaxing two-night getaway with the BBAK’s “‘Try Us, You’ll Like Us’ Buy One Night/Get One Night Free” special. Running through April 16, it requires only a consecutive nights’ stay Sundays through Thursdays.

Choose from nearly 100 member bed and breakfast inns. Member inns are located all over the state, many of them near Kentucky’s themed trails, including the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and the state’s Culinary Trails.

Here are a few getaway options:

Christopher’s Bed and Breakfast is in a 19th century former church with magnificent, jewel-toned stained-glass windows. Located in Bellevue, just steps away from the Historic Fairfield Avenue Shopping District, it offers three sumptuous Jacuzzi suites, pillow-top mattresses and luxury linens.

Lebanon’s Myrtledene Bed & Breakfast is an official site on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and is located in the heart of the new Kentucky Holy Land experience. A Kentucky Landmark, this gracious Civil War-era home was used by Confederate General John Hunt Morgan as his headquarters during his raids on Lebanon – a Union stronghold – yet spared because he was so enchanted with it.

An environmentally-friendly working farm experience may be had at Country Girl at Heart Farm B&B in Smith’s Grove. Gather eggs, work in the garden, play with the baby farm animals – then unwind in one of five uniquely themed guest rooms, each with organic linens and towels and local goat milk soaps. There is a floor-to-ceiling library; Cinema Room; and recreation room with magnetic chalkboard and whiteboard walls, plus ping pong, pool tables and more.

Snug Hollow Farm Bed and Breakfast, on 300 wildflower-strewn acres in Irvine, features featherbeds, handmade quilts, rocking chair porches and a library. With a reputation as a perfect writer’s retreat, the inn also scores for its gourmet vegetarian dining and restful charm. It is located on Kentucky’s Bon Appétit Appalachia culinary trail.

Tucked into an original 1875 carriage house is Simpsonville’s Yellow Carriage House, offering two guest rooms plus a private carriage house. A gourmet breakfast is served by candlelight in the Great Room, a gathering place warmed by twin fireplaces and shimmering with silver and crystal. It is located near Shelbyville’s famed “Design Destination,” where visitors can find everything they need to design or redecorate their homes – furniture, fabrics, flooring, accessories, antiques and more – and all within a two-block radius.

In Historic Old Louisville, home of the largest intact Victorian neighborhood in the United States, is Columbine Bed & Breakfast. This magnificent Greek Revival mansion, noted for its mahogany interior, is located on what is known as “Millionaire’s Row” in Louisville. There is a baby grand piano in the front parlor; a movie collection guests may borrow from in the back parlor; and a large screened-in porch for relaxing.

Located in tiny Bloomfield is Eagle Hill Manor, a circa 1899 Victorian Painted Lady with three guest rooms. A Kentucky Landmark that is also on the National Register of Historic Places, this inn is within walking distance of a restaurant and antique and gift shop, and just a short drive away from the shopping delights of Bardstown’s Court Square, featuring 29 locally-owned, one-of-a-kind shops.

If You Go

Only properties that are certified and agree to uphold the organization’s quality standards can earn membership in the Bed and Breakfast Association of Kentucky. Some inns offer spa services; others have farm tours, wine tastings or onsite specialty gift shops. Complimentary beverages and snacks and free Wi-Fi and free parking are always part of the B&B experience.

The BBAK’s “‘Try Us, You’ll Like Us’ Buy One Night/Get One Night Free” offer requires a Sunday through Thursday reservation and is based on member availability and a consecutive nights’ stay.

Search members on the Bed and Breakfast Association of Kentucky website by name, city, region or features. Then choose your B&B and contact the innkeeper regarding availability for the nights of your choice, Sunday through Thursday, through April 16.

This offer may not be combined with other discounts, specials or redemption of gift certificates, and reservations must be prepaid. Use Promotion Code “B&B BOGO Offer” when making reservations.
