Covington Business Council’s annual event, ‘A Celebration of Covington,’ will honor Thomas Banta


The Covington Business Council will present ‘A Celebration of Covington’ at its annual meeting on August 2 and will honor Thomas Banta of Corporex with its prestigious Founder Award.

The event will be held at The Madison Event Center from 5:30-8 p.m.

Banta is managing director of the Corporex Companies, LLC and Corporex Realty & Investment, LLC.

Over his 32-year career with Corporex, Banta has worked in multiple functions of the company and in nearly all divisions. Through his tenure with Corporex, the company has built over 18 million square feet of commercial real estate including more than 40 hotels, 24 office buildings, and six business parks.

In Covington, Banta has been involved in the development of the RiverCenter Office Towers, Madison Place, Kenton County Courthouse, Marriott, Embassy Suites and Best Western hotels, The Ascent at Roebling’s Bridge condominiums, three public parking structures, Pioneer Industrial Park, Kentucky Career Center and Life Learning Center.

Banta serves on the Board of Directors for Tri-ED, REDI Cincinnati, and The Butler Foundation. Previously, he served as a board member for the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce and Eagle Hospitality, an NYSE publicly traded hospitality REIT, from the time of inception until August 2007 when the REIT was sold in a market-based transaction.

Banta has served as a volunteer or on the Board of a number of non-profits and he and his wife, Kim, have been members of the United Way’s Alexis de Tocqueville Society for 15 years. He is a graduate of Indiana University with a dual degree in finance and real estate administration.
