Anthony Munoz to speak at NKU’s A Night with the Norse gala to benefit student-athletes


Former Cincinnati Bengal and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Anthony Muñoz highlights Northern Kentucky University’s third annual A Night with the Norse gala. The event is scheduled for Sept. 15 at Great American Ballpark’s Champions Club.

Muñoz was the third overall pick in the 1980 NFL Draft, joining the Cincinnati Bengals organization following an All-American career at the University of Southern California that included a national championship in 1978.

For the Bengals, Muñoz went to 11 consecutive Pro Bowls and helped lead the team to the Super Bowl in both 1981 and 1988. He earned seven combined offensive lineman of the year awards and was named the NFL Man of the Year in 1991. Muñoz was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1998 and is a member of the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team.

Known for his devotion to improving the lives of those living in the Tri-State region, He established the Anthony Muñoz Foundation in 2002, a nonprofit organization that engages the Tri-State region to impact area youth mentally, physically and spiritually. Muñoz regularly speaks at high school assemblies and participated in several military events.

A Night with the Norse gala benefits Northern Kentucky’s Go Norse Fund, which supports Norse student-athletes by directly addressing NKU’s strategic priorities, including student-athlete well-being, academic achievement, competitive excellence, facility enhancement, and resource development & fiscal management.
