The vehicle that struck Marshall’s car was driven by Andrew Routson of Beavercreek. There were two other people in the Routson car.

On Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 1:26 a.m. a two vehicle traffic collision on I-75 northbound at the 174 mile marker in Walton, KY (Boone County) claimed the life of one of the drivers and sent a teenager to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 2000 Honda Civic, operated by David Marshall, 62 of Louisville, was traveling northbound on I-75 at the 174 mile marker and became stopped in the left lane of travel. A 2017 Chevy Traverse, operated by Andrew Routson, 21, of Beavercreek, Ohio, was traveling northbound on I-75 in the left lane and struck the Civic as it was occupying the left lane.

The impact forced the Civic across the entire roadway to the right lane while Routson’s vehicle struck the concrete wall after impact stopping in the left emergency lane. The entire interstate became blocked due to the amount of debris and all lanes were immediately shut down.

Marshall was pronounced deceased at the scene by Walton Fire/EMS. Routson had two other passengers in his vehicle at the time of the collision, Harley Lewis, 21, of Beavercreek, Ohio and a 13 year old from Beavercreek, Ohio (name withheld at this time). The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision. The Civic was stationary in the left lane and not illuminated at the time of the collision, however, it is unknown at this time why.

It is also unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor, however, speed is not a suspected factor. No charges have been filed at this time, and Routson and his passengers are cooperating with the investigation. Any witnesses are asked to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit at 859-334-2175.
