The Florence Freedom toppled the Evansville Otters, 5-2, on Thursday to win their third straight series.

In the bottom of the first with the bases loaded, the Freedom’s Andre Mercurio hit a run-scoring single to drive in Caleb Lopes. Later that inning, Jordan Brower’s sacrifice fly gave the Freedom a 2-0 advantage.

Leading 3-0, Austin Wobrock slammed a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-0.

Evansville scored its first run of the game on a Travis Harrison solo homer in the top of the seventh, but the Freedom pitching staff slammed the door on any comeback hopes. Florence won two of the three games against Evansville.

The Freedom visit the River City Rascals at 7:30 p.m. Friday night.
