Skyler Ewing made his debut with the Florence Freedom a memorable experience Tuesday night at UC Health Stadium.

In his first game as a member of the Freedom, Ewing hammered a seventh-inning solo home run to snap a 4-all tie and give Florence a 5-4 win over the visiting Evansville Otters.

Florence started strong as Jordan Brower smashed a two-run homer in the second inning to give the Freedom a 2-0 lead. The Freedom made it a 3-0 advantage in the fourth inning when Jacob Wark lined an RBI single.

Evansville, however, erupted for all four of its runs in the fifth inning to grab a 4-3 lead. Brower tied the game at 4-all in the sixth inning by belting his second homer of the game, setting the stage for Ewing’s heroics in the seventh.

Brower was 4-for-4 and scored three runs. He also finished with three RBI. Keivan Berges went 3-for-4, while Ricky Ramirez added two hits.

Jordan Kraus pitched seven innings and scattered 11 hits to earn the victory.

Florence and Evansville meet in the second of the three-game series Wednesday in an early afternoon start at 12:05 p.m.
