While Amazon associates volunteered their time to help sort donations, Amazon operations leadership toured the food bank and offered advice on ways that Freestore could potentially make work processes easier and more efficient. Sharing its 20 plus years of innovation and expertise in operations is one of the ways that Amazon works with local food banks to help serve more families in need.

“We’re thrilled to work with Amazon to expand our efforts in the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana community,” said Kurt Reiber, Freestore Foodbank’s CEO and President. “We appreciate their invaluable experience, their generous donation to our food bank and we look forward to continuing our great relationship with Amazon.”

Amazon has been a regular donor of Freestore Foodbank for the past four years and has donated more two million pounds of product since 2014. Freestore Foodbank is leading the fight against hunger by distributing food to more than 400 partner agencies in 20 Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana counties, including food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.

Associates from one of Amazon’s Hebron fulfillment center presented a $5,000 check to Freestore Foodbank as part of Amazon’s Community Kaizen program.

“We are honored to be here today to learn more about Freestore Foodbank and how it processes food to support families throughout the region,” said Rahul Semwal, Site Leader of one of Amazon’s Hebron, KY fulfillment center. “We are excited to continue building this relationship, sharing guidance and supporting Freestore Foodbank’s mission.”

At the end of the tour, Amazon associates presented Freestore Foodbank with a $5,000 check to put towards initial improvements and existing programs such as Freestore’s summer feeding program for kids. This is part of Amazon’s ongoing commitment to give back to the communities where its associates work and live.
