Special to NKyTribune

Headline Books has announced the e-reader release of Northern Kentucky teen author Lauren Hudson’s new fantasy/fiction novel, The Deception, to be followed by a June 15 nationwide hardcopy release.

The second novel in a paranormal trilogy, The Deception celebrates the adventures of teen triplets who have become secret guardian angels.

It has already earned its young author the Best Young Adult Book award, which will be given at the San Francisco Book Festival next month.

The Deception made its debut on the Amazon charts as a Top 10 Visionary Fiction Hot New Release. Joseph Beth Booksellers will host a launch party for the book at its Crestview Hills location on Saturday June 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The public is invited.

On the strength of her last novel, The Ascension, Hudson became 2017 Independent Author of the Year.

Hudson, who completes her senior year at Dixie Heights later this month, has become one of Northern Kentucky’s most celebrated and prolific writers.  In addition to The Deception, during her time at Dixie Heights, Hudson authored several scripts, a play, and her second published book, The Ascension.  Her books and scripts have garnered more than 20 regional, national and international awards, including wins at the London Book Festival and the Beverly Hills Screenplay Contest.

“To keep positive momentum, I’ll be doing my best to encourage everybody to read The Deception. I hope readers fall in love with the characters in the new book, just like I have,” said Hudson, about her future.

Hudson’s publisher, Headline Books, has made its mark in Northern Kentucky, with a well-recognized stable of successful authors which includes Rick Robinson, Dennis Hetzel, and Barry Kienzle.

This summer, between book signings, Hudson will intern at Children’s Hospital. She will be studying neuroscience this fall at the University of Kentucky as a Singletary Scholar. She recently competed in the National Mock Trial Championship and acted in Dixie Heights’ production of Grease.

Hudson signs books and scripts at local charitable events on a gratis basis, donating profits to event sponsors.  She presents to youth and community groups on literacy topics, as well as her experiences as a young author.
