Caroline Gartner, a senior at St. Henry High School and a resident of Erlanger, was chosen among the nine applicants the city received for the $1,500.00 scholarship to attend an accredited two or four-year college or technical school.

The award was presented to Gartner during Tuesday’s City Council meeting by Brian Beechem, the father of last year’s recipient, Olivia Beechem, who was unable to attend due to finals at Bellarmine University.

“Thank you all for even considering me for this scholarship,” said Gartner. “It’s an honor to receive this…I know I will use it to represent Erlanger to the best of my ability.”

Gartner, an honor roll student, is captain of the school’s soccer team and a member of the tennis team, Pro-Life Club, Pep Club, and Student Ambassadors. She has also spent over 255 hours volunteering her time at numerous agencies including the Mary Rose Mission in Florence.

“Caroline has been a faithful volunteer of the Mary Rose Mission,” said Cindy Harris, Executive Director. “She steps up to any challenge and fulfills all duties thoroughly and perfectly.”

Gartner plans to attend the University of Kentucky in the fall and double major in Business and Engineering.

“Caroline is an intelligent, hardworking and dedicated student,” said Susan Daugherty, Senior Counselor at St. Henry. “You would be hard-pressed to find a more motivated, conscientious and kind individual.”
