Fit in the City celebrates the Flying Pig with 20-day event that includes stop at Devou Park Bandshell

The City of Covington’s Parks, Recreation and Facilities department is teaming with Jenergy and 20 Days on the Run to offer Fit in the City, a festival-style fitness event tied to the 20th running of the Flying Pig Marathon.

In celebration of its anniversary, “the Pig” is paying tribute to the communities along the course with a 20-day event leading up to the race. This 20-day event will stop in Covington at the Devou Park Bandshell on Tuesday, April 17. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

Fit in the City includes a 60-minute workout accompanied by coaches, trainers and wellness experts to help guide participants in achieving a well-balanced, healthy lifestyle. Jeni Houser, founder of Fit in the City, created this experience to make health and wellness more accessible.

“I realize that while most people want to be healthy and work out,” Houser said, “they don’t know where to get started, so Fit in the City is their opportunity to engage with trainers and experts from across the area, and for us to build community one workout at a time. I am excited that with the help of our sponsors we can offer this event to everyone for free.”

Participants doing the workout are encouraged to bring water, towel and a mat. They can meet the health and wellness experts, visit vendors and grab some food. The Flying Pig mascot will be there with giveaways and raffles.

This event is free, open to the public and requires registration. Participants can register here.

Fit in the City proceeds will benefit The Flying Pig Charities. An after-party at Braxton Brewery will follow the event.

The event is sponsored by The Devou Good Project, Athleta, Thirty Drink, and Hotel Covington.
