Campbell County Public Library calendar for April includes events and activities at all branches


A list of April events and programs at the Campbell County Public Library branches is provided here.

The Campbell County Public Library operates four branches. The Cold Spring Branch is located at 3920 Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring, phone 859-781-6166. The Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch is located at 1000 Highland Ave. in Fort Thomas, phone 859-572-5033. The Newport Branch is located at 901 E. Sixth St. in Newport, phone 859-572-5035. The Alexandria Branch is located at 8830 Alexandria Pike in Alexandria, phone 859-572-7463.
There are two Express locations for pickups and returns in Silver Grove and Melbourne.

Hours for Cold Spring, Carrico/Fort Thomas and Newport branches are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Hours for Alexandria are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; and closed Sunday and Monday. For more information, click here.

City Barbeque Food for Thought Series: A Short History of Distance
6:30-8:30 Tuesday, April 10
Dr. Jonathan Reynolds from the NKU History and Geography Department examining the millennia old human battle with distance. Where once distance defined the lives of almost everyone, we have now entered a phase of human existence where distance appears to be near defeat. What technological and cultural transformations brought us to this point? How might the end of distance change us? Food will be provided by Highland Heights City Barbeque. Ages 16 & up. Teen Craft-O-Mania
7 pm Monday, April 23
Bring your imagination, and the library will have the supplies to make a masterpiece. Try your hand at Perler Beads; make a necklace or bracelet; color your favorite coloring sheets, or work on something you bring along. Hang out with friends, and share your imagination with a project you can take home. Ages 11 & up. Registration required.

Are you 55 and older? Learn how you can have fun and share your lifetime of wonderful experiences and talents with others in your community. RSVP (The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) helps people 55 and older find volunteer opportunities in Northern Kentucky that best match their personal interests to the most pressing needs of our community. Prevention & Disposal of Clutter

There are numerous seminars on how to “declutter your home,” but not many on how to keep out/lower the amount of clutter coming in or how to dispose of the clutter properly and legally. Arts & Culture Series: Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra – Beatlejazz

John Lennon and Paul McCartney created unforgettable melodies that helped define music of the 1960s. Spring Into Science for Teens: Cincinnati Museum Center – Forensics

Learn how Forensic Science determines the past with the science of the present. Analyze human skull replicas to determine the gender and ethnicity of a fictional victim. Combine clues from the skull with crime scene evidence to determine the identity of a missing person and speculate as to the cause of death. Ages 12-19. Registration required.

In partnership with the Deaf Institute of Cincinnati, the Newport Library presents Carisa from Seventh Street Gifts in Newport who will teach us how to make all natural, effective household cleaning items. Regional History Series: Exploring Our Region’s Prehistory

Robert D. Webster discusses our region’s prehistory prior to the existence of the Ohio River. Learn about early rivers and trails and prehistoric civilizations. The presentation will also touch on the excursion of Christopher Gist & other early explorers. Mr. Webster is president of the Kenton County Historical Society and the author of several books. In the 2016-2017 fiscal year, there were 571,807 visits to the Library and more than 1.2 million items were checked out. More than 95,000 e-materials were downloaded, there were more than 2,800 programs offered (with attendance topping 58,000), and more than 24,000 calls were made to our free children’s story telling phone line.
