Rotary District looking for four host families for Youth Exchange Program for ’18-’19 academic year

Rotary District 6740, which includes Kentucky, will be sending nine high school students from the state out into the world this summer and during the next academic year.

They will be living in France, Spain, Peru, Poland, Germany, even Thailand.

However, the Youth Exchange program is just that – an exchange.  In return, the Rotary needs to host four (4) international students and is actively seeking host families for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Expectations for the host family are the following:

• Care for the student for 3-5 months
• Make sure the student gets to and from school daily (bus is OK)
• Provide the student 3 meals per day
• Treat the student like you would treat your own child
• The host parent DOES NOT need to be a Rotarian.

One of the four students will be a female from Finland.  The other student profiles are not yet available.

Expectations for the host Rotary Club are the following:

• Provide the student a $100 stipend for up to 10 months ($1,000 total)
• Provide the student with a Counselor who will check in on the student each month
• Invite the student to Rotary Club meetings and events
• Support the host family by offering to share a little bit of Kentucky with student:
◦ Cultural events
◦ Sporting events
◦ Invite them to dinner in your home
◦ Local attractions

Please contact James Glass (jglass@setel.com) or BJ McClure (bjmcclure@yahoo.com) if interested in becoming a host family.
