Kentucky Horse Park, Derby Museum team up to offer exclusive, guided tours called ‘Legacy and Legend’


The Kentucky Horse Park and the Kentucky Derby Museum have partnered on an exclusive, guided tour experience for guests to learn more about the legacy and legend of famous Thoroughbreds and Kentucky Derby champions.

Called the Legacy and Legend Tour, it includes transportation with Kentucky Tours, lunch, admissions and a guided, behind-the-scenes experience.

Guests will begin the tour at the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville, where they can watch morning workouts rail side at Churchill Downs Racetrack. Next, they will experience the museum’s signature exhibit, The Greatest Race, a one-of-a-kind 18-minute, 360° movie.
 

After spending the morning at one of the most famous racetracks in the world, guests will then be transported by chartered bus to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington to visit the Hall of Champions and meet Thoroughbred champions such as Kentucky Derby winners Funny Cide and Go for Gin. Guests will also have the opportunity to view a Parade of Breeds show, see the Calumet Farm Triple Crown trophy collection in the International Museum of the Horse, and tour the grounds visiting memorials to Man o’ War, Secretariat, and jockey Isaac Burns Murphy. The tour will conclude with a visit to the American Saddlebred Museum. Box lunches will be provided by the Kentucky Horse Park.

After lunch, guests will be transported back to the Kentucky Derby Museum, to explore more of its two floors of interactive exhibits. The tour offers two-day admissions to return to both locations and explore even more that each has to offer.

Tours will be available Thursdays, 7:15 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., April 5, 12, and 19 for $200 per person; and April 26 and May 3 for $250 per person. The tours have a limited number of seats and are expected to sell out. Guests must be at least 8 years old. No refunds will be available.
