After his record-setting senior season, Ryle running back Jake Chisholm received the Brian Williams “That’s My Boy” Award for being the top student-athlete in Northern Kentucky high school football.

Chisholm was one of three finalists for the annual award that’s named in honor of a former Covington Catholic football player who lost his life in the Sept. 11 terror attack on New York City. He received the award at the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the National Football Federation banquet on Thursday.

A rating system that awards points for achievements in football, academics and extra curricular activities is used to decide the winner. The other two finalists were Covington Catholic quarterback A.J. Mayer and Highlands offensive lineman Michael Dunn.

Last season, Chisholm rushed for a school record 2,315 yards and 33 touchdowns while also catching 16 passes for 219 yards and two TDs. He set a Northern Kentucky single-game rushing record by picking up 449 yards on 42 carries against Simon Kenton. That yardage total ranks seventh in the state record books.

“One thing that stands out is the fire and enthusiasm he has for the game,” Ryle coach Mike Engler stated in Chisholm’s player profile. “Jake is one of the hardest working student-athletes I’ve ever seen in all my years of coaching.”

In the classroom, Chisholm is a National Honor Society student with a 4.46 weighted grade point average and an ACT score of 32. He is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and Future Farmers of America organizations at school.

Chisholm, who was voted  first-team all-state and nominated for the Mr. Kentucky Football award, will continue his football career at the University of Dayton as a pre-med major.
