NKU kicks off week of events to celebrate 50th anniversary with Homecoming 2018 tonight

Northern Kentucky University kicks off its 50th anniversary celebration with Homecoming 2018, “Back the Future: Blast from the Past.”

Events start on Friday, Feb. 2 with the “Late Night Disco” run and culminate on Saturday, Feb. 10 with the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen at the men’s basketball game.

“We selected ‘Back to the Future: Blast from the Past’ as the theme this year to remind us to look at our past and see how far we’ve come as a university,” said Dr. Dan Nadler, vice president of Student Affairs. “As we kick off our 50th anniversary, we remain grounded to our historic past as we continue to break barriers toward our unstoppable future.”

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community are invited to join in the fun.

NKU’s annual Alumni Awards Celebration takes place Friday, Feb. 9 and will honor the 2018 Outstanding Alumni Awards recipients W. Bruce Lunsford, Andrá Ward, Sen. Wil Schroder II and Dr. Jacqueline Emerine. Saturday begins with the Homecoming Tailgate, the women’s basketball game against Detroit Mercy and ends with the men’s basketball team taking on Green Bay.

“Homecoming is the perfect time to visit campus, see what has changed and reconnect with old friends,” said Amy Wylie, director of Alumni Councils and Programs. “If you haven’t visited in a while, come back and help us celebrate 50 years of NKU.”
