NKY Chamber hosts session on how to avoid tax, succession and estate planning mistakes


 On Thursday, February 8, the Northern Kentucky Chamber Small Business Academy is inviting the business community to learn about the top 10 mistakes made in tax, succession, and estate planning.

Presented by William E. Hesch, CPA, PFS, the workshop will cover topics including:

Tax Planning

  • Common tax planning mistakes
  • How to save on taxes
  • How not to fear an IRS audit
  • Which type of pension plan may be best for the company and the owner

Succession Planning

  • Common succession planning mistakes
  • How to plan for the unexpected disability of a key employee or president in the company
  • How to properly plan for the death and retirement of the president of the company

Estate Planning

  • Common estate planning mistakes
  • How to protect the family and the value of the business if the president dies or becomes disabled
  • How to use a buy-sell agreement to transfer the ownership of the business to the next generation and protect the business from the in-laws

The Tax, Succession and Estate Planning Mistakes and How to Avoid Them workshop will run from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and will take place at The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce (300 Buttermilk Pike Suite 330).  Registration is $20 for NKY Chamber members, $30 for future NKY Chamber members, and is available online at www.nkychamber.com/events.
