News briefs: Heritage Bank names Rees controller, Dr. Gaston joins CTI, Gov. Bevin appoints Ward


Heritage Bank names new controller

Heritage Bank has named Andrew Rees as the bank’s new controller.

Rees has over 22 years banking experience in financial management, accounting management, business strategy development, team leadership, change management strategies, and adaptive leadership. He comes to Heritage after serving as Chief Financial Officer for Warsaw Federal Savings & Loan in Cincinnati Ohio. His entire career has been spent in the Greater Cincinnati market.

Rees has served as the treasurer of the Clifton Business & Professional Association and has also held multiple offices from President, and Vice President, to Treasurer,  and Secretary within the Financial Managers Society (Ohio Valley Chapter).

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting & Financing from the University of Cincinnati’s Lindner College of Business.

Dr. Robert Gaston joins CTI

CTI Clinical Trial and Consulting Services (CTI), a multi-national, privately held, full-service contract research organization has named Dr. Robert Gaston to the Medical Affairs team.

“Dr. Gaston’s experience and expertise in the treatment of critically ill patients will be a huge asset to the growing team at CTI,” said Dr. William Aronstein, Vice President, Medical Affairs.

Dr. Robert (Bob) Gaston served as Vice President for Transplant Services and Director of the Comprehensive Transplant Institute at University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he held the Robert G. Luke Endowed Chair in Transplant Nephrology.

He is a nephrologist with broad experience in hypertension, immunology, public policy, and solid organ transplantation. He has been involved in clinical investigation since 1990, with research funded by industry, foundation, and government, and over 300 published articles, chapters, and abstracts.

His expertise has resulted in ongoing consultation for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), several academic institutions, and industry (biotech and large pharma).

As a faculty member at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from 1990-2017, Gaston served as Interim Chief of the Division of Nephrology in 2013, and Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology from 2013-17.  He was President of the American Society of Transplantation (AST) in 2011-12.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arkansas and his Doctor of Medicine form St. Louis University School of Medicine.

Judge Ward appointed

Judge Julie Reinhardt Ward, of California, is a circuit judge in Campbell County, has been appointed by Gov. Bevin to serve on the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board.

She will represent the Circuit Judges Association and serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2020.
