Highlights include Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s last race as a NASCAR Monster Cup driver at Kentucky Speedway in the Quaker State 400. Other highlights of the tripleheader weekend included Governor Matt Bevin driving the pace car and delivering the checkered flag by rappelling in from a U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter.

Simendinger also talks about how, in its short history, success at Kentucky Speedway has propelled several drivers to a Cup championship.

The NASCAR Tripleheader Weekend is once again the highlight of the racing season. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, XFINITY Series and Camping World Truck Series will return to the Bluegrass State’s 1.5-mile tri-oval July 12-14.

Action Alley also returns to Kentucky Speedway this year after a successful debut in 2017. It is being billed as the Official College Tailgate Area for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 and the best NASCAR party of the summer. Visit the Kentucky Speedway website as the race weekend approaches for updates on additional events and activities.

The big storyline for this year, Simendinger says, is the young guns of NASCAR and a potential changing of the guard.
