Covington’s Theatre House supply shop re-opens under new ownership, with unique legacy intact

Theatre House, the 17,500-square foot theatrical supply shop located at 400 West 3rd Street in Covington, has re-opened under new ownership.

Theatre House president Marty Boyer

“Theatre House is a special place, and I am thrilled to be able to keep its legacy going,” said Marty Boyer, the venue’s new president. “The outpouring of emails and phone calls we’ve received from customers who have heard about our reopening has been amazing. People really do feel a strong connection to this company.”

Opened in 1955, Theatre House got its start producing curtains, fabrics, and other services for local theatres. Demand grew, and it quickly became a trusted theatrical supply resource to theaters and industry professionals at all levels across the country. Today it sells virtually anything and everything someone involved in a theatre production might need — from lighting, fabrics and wigs, to makeup, costumes, props and much more.

A long-time resident of Northern Kentucky, Boyer has spent the last 20 years in the digital marketing and branding space working with national brands.

“The theatrical supply business is one where a huge opportunity exists to turn technology and data science into an operational advantage,” Boyer said. “We can move this business forward in all aspects including purchasing, marketing, and inventory. I’m excited to see the kind of impact we can make as we re-launch the business.”

Since acquiring the Theatre House this past November, he has already overhauled the company’s website – www.theatrehouse.com, developed new branding, and reopened the Theatre House’s retail store. He’s also spent a great amount of time getting to know Theatre House customers and meeting with vendors.

“Above all we want to help people share their stories. There are amazing people out there who every day are bringing creative stories to life,” Boyer said. “Prop masters, costume designers, make-up artists, lighting supervisors and more – and we’re here to play a supporting role in helping them, any way we can.”

Retail store hours are 1 p.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, or to place an order, call (859) 293-2277 or visit www.theatrehouse.com.
