Boone County promotes from within, selects Bray as new Director of Animal Care and Control


The Boone County Fiscal Court confirmed the appointment of Colleen Bray as the Boone County Director of Animal Care and Control at its January 9, regular meeting.

The appointment follows a competitive national search which included a review of nearly forty applicants from five states.

Bray has served the Boone County Animal Shelter in a number of capacities including Kennel Technician, Animal Control Officer and the Animal Control Sergeant, a senior leadership position within the department. Director Bray is a National Animal Care and Control Association Level 1 and 2 certified Animal Control Officer, a Certified Euthanasia Specialist and a current board member of the Kentucky Animal Control Association.

“The Animal Care and Control Director is an important leadership position serving the entire County,” said  Boone County Judge/Executive Gary W. Moore. “After conducting a national search, it was gratifying to find the most qualified candidate right here in Boone County. I look forward to working with Colleen to continue to build upon the culture of high quality care for our animals and service to the public.”

The Director of Animal Care and Control position was previously held by Beckey Reiter who served Boone County in the position for 23 years.

Bray lives in Boone County with her husband and two sons.
